Product Manager - Heating & Cooling Systems (Hamburg, Germany, Europe)

The story of Panasonic Corporation began in Osaka, Japan in 1918, when Konosuke Matsushita invented a two-socket light bulb. He started producing and selling the light bulb from his own house, with just 3 employees. The invention of a new type of bicycle lamp came in 1923, followed by the development of the first radio just 8 years later. In 1935 they launched their first television, an area of production that has since proved immensely successful. 1935 also marked a turning point in the size, production and sheer growth of Panasonic Corporation.

This particular year saw the company manufacturing 600 different kinds of product with sales extending to overseas markets for the first time. Their employee base rose to 3500. By 1942, Matsushita became the first radio manufacturer in Japan. As the swinging sixties approached, the total number of employees had risen to 28000. The company reported profits of 1.5 billion yen.


Responsibilities:

- Analyze the German, Austrian and Swiss market for air conditioners and heatpumps to have a complete knowledge of the opportunities and the threats for Panasonic (including competitor's product, price, channel of distribution and promotional activities).

- Prepare business plan, set up product pricings, maintain pricing quarterly.

- Closely work together with the key wholesalers, management and the marketing/product planning team at factory.

- Manage and control PSI (purchase from the factory, sales to the distributor and inventory): collect, verify and analyze monthly rolling forecast and inventory information from customers; analyze stock both at Panasonic and the wholesaler's warehouse and take necessary actions to minimize slow-moving and returned stock.

- Propose and control all neccessary marketing activities (eg. sell-out/sell-in campaigns, promotions, tradefairs, marketing materials).

- Recommend different activities needed to realize the BP sales to the distributors.


Qualifications & Skills:

- University degree in Economics or Engineering (with postgraduate training in economics).

- Min. 3 years experience in product management/bus. development, at least partly in air conditioning/heating business.

- Good knowledge in air conditioning/heating, market experience is a must.

- Very good technical understanding.

- Advanced software skills, especially for MS Excel and ideally for SAP/BW.

- Fluent in English & German.

- Very good communication & organizational skills.
